Job Description

In this role you will: 

  • The development and provision of high-quality library programming for children, young adults and their caregivers in Stonnington Libraries including both information and digital literacy
  • Work across the Library Services team, the Library Development Officer, Team Leaders and Children’s Library Officers to develop and deliver quality programming for young people across the whole service
  • Provide input and advice for collection purchasing to the while contributing to the overall maintenance of children’s and youth collections
  • Be the central point of contact for all schools and early years services in the municipality, working with teachers and educators to provide targeted programming to encourage use of our service
  • Act as Senior on Duty and provide reader’s advisory and information services on rostered desk shifts, including providing a quality information and customer service experience to all library users and assistance to access resources across the whole collection

Hours of work: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 9 to 5.10; Wednesday 12pm - 8pm. Monthly Saturday: 9.30 to 5.10pm. Fortnightly RDO . No flexibility to work pattern.

This is a permanent position with an annual salary range of $79,222 - $90,806 + 11.5% super. 

Desired Skills and Experience

What you'll need to thrive:

  • Degree in Librarianship or Information Management with conferring eligibility for Associate membership of ALIA and relevant experience in public libraries or similar
  • Proven experience in the development and delivery of children’s literacy programs to the public
  • Ability and desire to lead and provide support to team members and positively contribute to the team culture
