Job Description

 

As Open Space Planning Lead you will play a leading role in the transformation and improvement of City of Stonnington parks and other open spaces. You will work closely with the parks maintenance team, other teams across Council and external contractors, you will drive the delivery of a program of projects to enhance the quality and presentation of our high value open spaces.
This is an exciting position within Council and will play a vital role in helping to deliver excellent parks and open spaces throughout Stonnington, which are more important than ever before!
In this role you will develop and implement a program of routine inspections and audits of parks, playgrounds, gardens, reserves, sports grounds and other open spaces to assess maintenance performance, presentation, amenity, functionality, public safety and opportunities for improvement.
You will also:

  • Provide supervision and management of minor operating contracts in parks and open space.
  • Coordinate and support the delivery of third party auditing of open space assets and services and contractor OHS compliance, where these are undertaken by specialist auditors.
  • Develop, in consultation with others, an open space improvement plan for each locality that will inform maintenance improvements, asset renewal and upgrades and new projects to enhance the quality of open spaces.
  • Coordinate and work with staff and contractors to deliver open space improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent eye for detail and commitment to best practice open space maintenance and presentation, you will play a central role in identifying opportunities for open space improvements and upgrades.
  • Work closely with the parks maintenance team, other teams across Council and external contractors, you will drive the delivery of a program of projects to enhance the quality and presentation of our high value open spaces.

This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary range of $95,013 - $102,899 per annum + 11.5 % superannuation.

You are based within our bright, modern and sustainable Tooronga Depot office which is located next to Tooronga Train station and walking distance to Tooronga Village Shopping Centre.

Desired Skills and Experience

To thrive in this role you have:
•    An excellent eye for detail and commitment to best practice open space maintenance and presentation, you will play a central role in identifying opportunities for open space improvements and upgrades.
•    Knowledge of best practice open space design, maintenance and renewal.
•    The ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to achieve positive open space improvement outcomes as well as strong project management skills
•    Experience in open space planning / management, landscape design, asset management, auditing or project management.
•    Analytical, investigative and problem solving skills along with an ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences.
•    Tertiary qualification in horticulture, landscape design, open space planning, environment, urban planning, asset management or other related discipline and/or extensive practical experience together with relevant experience
