Job Description

Are you passionate about building safety and compliance? Do you have a keen eye for detail and a drive to contribute to the success of construction projects? If you’re looking to take the next step in your career within the Building Surveying industry, this opportunity is for you. As a Building Surveyor Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the team and ensuring the smooth processing of building applications, inspections, and regulatory compliance.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Gain hands-on experience in the Building Surveying industry by supporting a range of projects and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Use your knowledge of the Building Act, Building Regulations, Building Code of Australia, and related statutes to assist in reviewing plans and applications.
  • Read and interpret building plans, technical specifications, and literature to provide accurate feedback and assessments.
  • Apply your ongoing or completed tertiary studies in Building Surveying, ideally with experience in construction, Local Government, or building control, to assist in the application of building legislation and standards.

This is a permanent, full-time position offering a competitive salary between $95,013 and $102,899, plus 11.5% superannuation.

What you’ll need to thrive:

  • A solid understanding of the principles within the Building Act, Building Regulations, and Building Code of Australia, with the ability to provide clear advice to stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling you to liaise confidently with internal teams, regulatory authorities, and the public.
  • Strong technical abilities in reading and interpreting plans, ensuring compliance with building standards and legislation.
  • Sharp written communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise reports and correspondence.
  • A customer-focused approach, with the ability to manage challenging situations with diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Effective time management and organisation, enabling you to handle competing priorities and meet deadlines.
