Job Description

Take that next step in your career and as Senior Statutory Planner you will take a lead role in managing a diverse range of high profile projects which contribute positively to the development of a stronger, more viable municipality. You will provide professional and efficient analysis and advice on planning applications, planning scheme requirements and policies to the public and planning applicants. You will also implement the Statutory Planning functions of Council and provide an efficient, accurate and effective service to the community. 

You will also:

  • Process complex permit applications within the statutory framework of State planning legislation to guarantee an efficient, high quality and professional planning service is provided. 
  • Contribute to the development of an integrated and efficient streamlined development approvals system. 

This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary of $95,013 - $102,899 per annum + 11.5% superannuation + a monthly day off arrangement.  This is a hybrid role meaning you will work some days at home and some in the office. When on-site enjoy a bright modern and sustainable office, a wellbeing program and iconic High Street and Glenferrie Road location where with cafes, fashion, beauty and health clubs are in abundance.

Desired Skills and Experience

To thrive in this role you have:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and capacity to successfully engender a culture of teamwork along with strong influence and negotiating capabilities. 
  • A sound understanding of the Victorian Planning Policy framework with awareness of current planning, development, economic, social and environmental issues and policy development. 
  • An appreciation of the diversity of stakeholders in the planning process and experience in effective consultation and working cooperatively with these stakeholders. 
  • Proven capability to manage and complete multiple tasks with efficiency by setting priorities and having regard to statutory timelines and public expectations. 
  • A strong ability to communicate statutory planning matters clearly and logically, particularly in a written report format and in the area of customer service.
