Job Description

In this role, you’ll manage the coordination and refinement of the Community Grants Program, ensuring it aligns with established policies and guidelines. A significant aspect of your work will involve supporting community organisations to strengthen their capabilities and achieve financial independence. You’ll also work as part of a dynamic team, contributing to initiatives, events, and projects that champion social justice and advance the health and wellbeing of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Community Grants Program, including reviews, updates, applications, funding agreements, and compliance processes.
  • Engage with grant recipients to provide support, address risks, and recommend improvements.
  • Promote grant opportunities through clear communication and participation in relevant networks.
  • Deliver education and awareness programs to diversify applicants and support community sustainability.
  • Build community capacity through partnerships, events, and initiatives that meet local needs.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including managing panels, updating materials, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.'

This is a full-time, permanent role offering a salary between $95,013 and $102,899, plus 11.5% superannuation and the benefit of a monthly ADO.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you'll need to thrive:

  • Experience in grant management, community development, or similar, with a tertiary qualification preferred. Local government or not-for-profit sector experience is desirable.
  • Strong administrative, communication, and writing skills, including the ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and submissions.
  • Proven ability to deliver community projects on time and within budget while managing time effectively and thriving under pressure.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Council policies and procedures, with sound judgment and problem-solving skills to handle sensitive situations and new challenges.
  • Proficiency in technology, ideally including SmartyGrants, with the capability to instruct applicants in its use.
