About the Role
The City of Stonnington is seeking an experienced and hands on Head of People Capability (L&D) to lead our capability, learning and development, and diversity and inclusion team, and associated programs of work, in a newly created role.
As a member of the People & Culture leadership team, you'll design and deliver impactful initiatives that foster a positive learning culture, enhance employee & leadership capability, drive engagement, deliver best practice learning programs and position Stonnington as an employer of choice.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and execute a comprehensive plan for Learning & Organisation Development and Diversity & Inclusion alongside organisation-wide employee development and leadership capability building programs and strategies to boost workplace productivity and employee satisfaction.
• Develop and implement frameworks for effective leadership development at all levels, ensuring leaders are equipped to drive cultural change, promote inclusive practices and drive a talent focussed culture.
• Lead the design and strategic direction of workforce diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, initiatives, and partnerships that ensure alignment with D&I Strategy, organisational objectives and legislative requirements.
• Design and deliver initiatives that support employee growth and progression, including facilitation of our existing development programs and workshops to improve communication and collaboration among employees, fostering a cohesive and motivated workforce.
• Build sustainable relationships with key stakeholders that contribute to related learning projects and co-create, collaborate and communicate learning services and experiences
• Provide advice on contemporary and evidence-based learning methodologies, innovative resources, adult learning principles and practices to help create responsive and fit-for-purpose learning and development programs
This is a full-time, permanent position with a salary range of $125,178 - $139,357 plus11.5% superannuation, with annual enterprise agreement increases. You’ll be supported by a small team comprising a D&I Advisor and People Capability Advisor.
Desired Skills and Experience
What You'll Need to Thrive
• Tertiary Degree in HR, Organisational Development, Psychology, or a related field; as well as Cert IV in Training & Assessment (preferred); with at least 5+ years in managerial roles focused on leading a team across Learning, Leadership & Organisational Development and Diversity & Inclusion imperatives; ideally with experience supporting frontline workforces.
• Deep subject matter expertise and a passionate commitment to progressive core learning, organisational development theories, and talent development; with DE&I experience.
• Proven track record in designing, developing and implementing organisation-wide strategies, plans and initiatives across OD, L&D, & D&I, that apply innovative and contemporary learning concepts
• Experience with learning management systems, learning design and content creation, principles of adult learning and blended learning strategies
• Demonstrated expertise in leading organisational change initiatives and fostering a culture of adaptability whilst positively navigating uncertainties
• Strong ability to coach leaders and teams to enhance performance and build capabilities.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality and engaging presentations, reports, policies, and action plans. Ability to facilitate, present and communicate with influence, including the ability to understand and adapt to the audience to gain support and commitment.
• Demonstrated capacity for critical thinking, ensuring accuracy and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Strong project management and organisation skills, whether working independently or leading project teams
