Job Description

Play a key role in shaping workplace safety and wellbeing systems in a role that makes a real difference. As a Safety Business Partner, you’ll already have extensive WHS experience and in this role you will be able to activate and embed mental health strategies that target Council’s safety risks and enhance overall safety culture and practices across our workplaces. Your experience and knowledge in WHS, mental health and WHS practices will be crucial in elevating and foster a safe, caring work environment for all, especially if you have experience supporting diverse and dispersed workforces.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Collaborate with leaders to integrate safety into organisational goals, ensuring employee wellbeing is front and centre.
  •  Design and implement strategies to address health risks, conduct hazard assessments, and maintain compliance with legislation and best practices.
  •  Deliver engaging wellbeing programs, workshops, and leadership training to promote safety and healthier team dynamics.
  •  Champion inclusivity and resilience through targeted mental health initiatives that align with organisational values.
  •  Investigate safety incidents, implement practical solutions, and share insights to enhance prevention and awareness.
  •  Analyse trends and use data-driven insights to evaluate wellbeing initiatives and recommend improvements.

This full-time permanent position offers a salary of $108,694 in addition to 11.5% superannuation and the benefit of an ADO each month.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you'll bring

  • A degree in OHS, Psychology, or Mental Health, or similar tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded.
  • Significant experience in (generalist) WHS roles supporting large stakeholder groups, ideally with frontline workforces
  • Demonstrated success in developing and delivering mental health and broad safety initiatives in high-risk environments 
  • A thorough understand of all relevant WHS workplace legislation and practices
  • Strong influencing skills to drive leadership engagement and cultural change.
  • Expertise in risk management, incident investigation, and team training.
  • Additional qualifications in leadership or return-to-work programs are a plus.
  • Solutions-focused with high emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate sensitive topics.
