Job Description

We’re on the lookout for two proactive and community-minded individuals to join our friendly and dedicated Venues & Facilities team as Casual Venue Officers. In these hands-on roles, you’ll play an important part in the smooth running of Council-managed venues – from town halls and community centres to function spaces and meeting rooms. You’ll help ensure these spaces are not only well-presented and efficiently operated but also welcoming, inclusive, and ready to meet the needs of a wide range of users. Whether it's assisting a local community group, supporting a private function, or helping with set-up and pack-down, your work will help bring people together and support meaningful community experiences.

In this role, you will:

  • Be part of a collaborative and responsive team, bringing a can-do attitude and a willingness to grow and support others.
  • Help ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of Council’s venues and facilities.
  • Provide essential support to the Venues & Facilities Unit, contributing to continuous service improvement and a vibrant community experience.
  • Maintain high presentation standards across all venues, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for internal and external hirers.

In return for your dedication and hard work, you'll be offered an hourly rate of $44.99 providing you with a competitive rate of pay for the flexibility and benefits of casual work.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds, identities, ages and abilities.
  • Solid administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to meet targets, solve problems and stay calm under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with colleagues, community members and stakeholders.
  • A self-motivated, adaptable approach to work, with a commitment to contributing to a positive team culture.
  • Relevant experience in hospitality or local government is highly regarded.

You’ll also need (or be willing to obtain before starting):

  • RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol)
  • Level 2 First Aid & CPR
  • Food Handling Certificate
