Job Description

In this role you’ll be the creative force behind how our initiatives, services and campaigns are seen and experienced. You’ll design across digital, print, signage, advertising and social platforms, producing visual content that is audience-focused, on brand, and engaging.

Your work will bring briefs to life, support storytelling across the organisation, and ensure every piece of communication reflects our values. You’ll collaborate with colleagues, content creators, and suppliers, managing multiple design projects end-to-end while balancing creativity with deadlines.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing and producing reports, presentations, signage, advertising, publications, social media and campaign materials.
  • Translating strategic objectives and briefs into compelling design solutions.
  • Making sure every design meets accessibility standards and represents our diverse community.
  • Supporting creative delivery across both digital and traditional channels.
  • Applying and upholding our brand identity, style guide and visual language.
  • Helping evolve our brand toolkit and developing templates for teams across Council.
  • Coordinating design projects from start to finish, including scheduling, revisions, approvals and supplier liaison.
  • Working with colleagues and external vendors to deliver on time, on brief and to a high standard.
  • Supporting internal communications with engaging staff-focused materials.
  • Actively contributing ideas and advice in campaign planning, creative meetings and content development.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you’ll bring

  • A degree or diploma in graphic design or visual communication, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and confidence across print and digital.
  • Experience applying and managing brand identity within complex organisations, ideally government or community-focused.
  • Strong project management skills – juggling multiple priorities without losing attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain creative concepts and build relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work well with colleagues, suppliers, and external creatives.
