Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young people? Join our Middle Years Team at The Child, Youth and Community Hub on the Horace Petty Housing Estate in Prahran. In this rewarding role, you'll have the chance to work directly with children aged 5-12, providing them with a space to explore, learn, and develop through engaging activities. As part of a dedicated team, you’ll help foster an environment that encourages creativity, personal growth, and connection, while supporting children and families from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise a range of recreational, creative, and engaging activities that support the positive development and specific needs of children and young people (5-12 years) living on the Horace Petty Estate.
• Provide a safe, child-focused environment for Hub activities, encouraging safe risk-taking, creativity, connection, and friendly play.
• Collaborate with Hub staff to develop, implement, and assess strategies for behaviour modification, conflict resolution, and personal growth, tailored to the individual needs of children and young people.
• Monitor and assess rules and behaviour codes in consultation with the Team Leader and other Hub staff.
Hours & Benefits:
• Hours will vary, typically between 1pm – 7pm, Monday – Thursday, with occasional Saturday shifts.
• Hourly rate: $38.89 + casual loading + 12% superannuation.
Desired Skills and Experience
What You’ll Need to Thrive:
• Proven experience in community development, program planning, and activity delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with children, young people, and families, particularly those from non-English speaking and low socio-economic backgrounds, using trauma-informed frameworks.
• Experience working in environments such as Adventure Playgrounds, youth services, and integrated service settings, with the ability to manage challenging behaviours.
• A passion for teamwork and collaboration, with a positive contribution to team development.
• A tertiary qualification in a related field (e.g., community development, youth work, social work, or other social sciences) and relevant certifications/training.
