This role is an integral part of contributing to a safe community and positive environmental impacts within the City of Stonnington. The Street Cleaning Driver Labourer is responsible for providing a high quality street cleaning service to maintain the cleanliness of the streets and precinct areas.
You are required to:
- Maintain the cleanliness of public roads, streets, laneways and carparks by carrying out all street cleaning duties scheduled
- Effective and efficient cleaning of streets and laneways manually using brooms, rakes and shovels
- Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting, digging, raking, sweeping and using mechanical tools
- Effective and efficient operation of large, medium and small street cleaning vehicle as required in a safe, competent and responsible manner in accordance with Road Traffic Regulations
- Ensure the vehicle in use is maintained in good condition and any defects are reported to the Workshop and are entered into the vehicle log book
- Clean and ensure the vehicle in use is maintained in good condition and any defects are reported to Fleet Management and entered into the vehicle maintenance register
- Work with the Team Leader and report an incomplete works
- Maintain good relationshpis with residents, traders, the general public and other Council departments, and represent Council by promiting a good image as a unit.
- Report any incidences/accidents to the Team Leader
- Ensure appropriate safety and protective equipment is utilised to carry out works safely
This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary of $72,218.28 per annum + 12% superannuation. The hours of this role are 6am - 2pm, perfect if you need to get to school pick up or have the afternoons free!
To be suitable for this position you will be a positive team player who is able to maintain the cleanliness of the City of Stonnington community while ensuring community, team and personal safety is taken into consideration each day.
You will have:
- Knowledge of and the ability to operate street cleaning plant and equipment.
- Knowledge of safe Manual Handling Techniques and Occupational Health and Safety.
- Basic knowledge and use of hand tools
- Skills in managing time, planning and organising one’s own work to achieve agreed objectives
- Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervison
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with management, staff and customers concerning information needs.
- Ability to work and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Current valid motor vehicle Drivers Licence
- Basic knowledge of the use of hand tools.
- Ability to follow OHS policies and procedures.
- Physical ability to perform the work.
- Flexibility to ensure targets are met within an adequate timeframe.
