Job Description

Local businesses are the beating heart of this iconic precinct, and your storytelling of its people and places will help shape a vibrant Chapel Street. With a strong on-street presence you will work closely with local traders to create impactful digital marketing and communications that strengthen the Chapel Street brand and increase visitation to the precinct.
The Chapel Street Digital Marketing Officer is responsible for digital marketing and communications to businesses, visitors, residents and investors in the Chapel Street precinct to strengthen the Chapel Street brand and increase visitation to the precinct. Guided by the precinct’s new social media strategy this role will have a strong on-street presence and connections with local traders. 
It is responsible for creating, scheduling, monitoring and reporting on content across various social media platforms and the Chapel Street website. 

This role will also deliver a monthly EDM to special-rate businesses in Chapel Street sharing information and supporting engagement. As a member of the Chapel Street Precinct team, this role works closely with the Communications and Marketing officers and collaborates widely across Council, supporting initiatives as required to shape a dynamic, welcoming and safe precinct. 

Key Responsibilities:
•    Proactively collaborate with local traders to source or create content that highlights their business, events, promotions and stories and collaboration in seasonal campaigns.
•    Create high-quality, on-brand content (copy, imagery and short-form video) across relevant platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and emerging channels) and optimise content for each platform’s algorithm and audience behaviour.
•    Manage day-to-day publishing, community engagement and moderation, fostering a positive online community by encouraging constructive dialogue and addressing concerns appropriately.
•    Manage and review ongoing social media strategy.
•    Execute paid social media campaigns, optimise and report on campaign activity.
•    Track and analyse social media performance metrics, preparing regular reports to inform decision-making and demonstrate the impact of social media activities by providing weekly insight reports and contribute to campaign reports.
•    Analyse email campaign performance (open rates, click-through rates, conversions) and optimise accordingly including building and segmenting subscriber lists to improve engagement.
•    Maintain and update the Chapel Street website, ensuring content is current, accurate and optimised for SEO.
•    Provide insights and recommendations to enhance Chapel Street marketing and communications, contributing to the development of campaigns that increase trader, visitor and resident engagement.
•    Liaise with local traders, business associations and internal Council teams to gather content and coordinate promotions.
•    Stay abreast of emerging social media trends and tools, advising on their potential application to Chapel St precinct program.

Join us in this full-time permanent role, offering a competitive salary range of $100,066 - $108,372 plus 12% superannuation and a monthly accrued day off. This role is predominately based from Chapel Street, Prahran. 

Desired Skills and Experience

What you’ll need to succeed:

•    Strong understanding of social media algorithms, trends, and best practices.
•    Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
•    Proficiency in using social media management tools and analytics platforms.
•    Capacity to work collaboratively within a team and across departments, fostering positive working relationships.
•    A degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Media or a related field is preferred, though lesser formal qualifications may be acceptable with equivalent work experience.
•    Demonstrated work experience in managing social media platforms within a professional setting.
•    Proficient in content creation tools and platforms, with a strong portfolio showcasing engaging social media content.
•    Experience in analysing social media metrics and translating data into actionable insights.
•    Familiarity with accessibility standards and commitment to inclusive communication practices.
•    A natural ‘people person’ who can develop strong and authentic in-person relationships 
•    A confident clear communicator to people from varied backgrounds either one-on-one or with groups 
•    An excellent listener who is curious and ‘seeks to understand’
•    A storyteller
•    Skilled in addressing issues and mediating conflicts appropriate to the role, promoting positive outcomes and mutual understanding.
•    A Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the evolving digital landscape.
