Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
•    Maintain a high level of cleanliness, performing waste collection duties and driving Stonnington’s waste collection vehicles as scheduled 
•    Knowledge and understanding of how to operate a rear and side loader waste collection vehicle 
•    Familiar with City of Stonnington’s layout of inner-city navigation difficulties of streets and laneways 
•    Carry out all duties efficiently, and in a safe and competent manner without risk to yourself or the community
•    Report any incidents/ accidents to the Team Leader
•    Ensure appropriate safety and protective equipment is utilised to carry out the work safely
•    Actively undertake checks and balances to ensure you are operating in a safe working environment 
•    Ensure the vehicle is maintained in good working condition and any defects are reported through appropriate channels.
•    Maintain good relationships with residents, traders, general public and other Council departments to provide an excellent customer centred service
•    Actively participate in the review of waste collection procedures and the implementation of improvement initiatives
•    Exercise appropriate judgement and make decisions regarding Waste Collection within the City of Stonnington 

Join us in this full-time permanent role, offering a competitive salary range of $86,485.92 plus 12% superannuation. 

Desired Skills and Experience

What you’ll need to succeed:

•    Demonstrated ability to operate a waste collection vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
•    Ability and desire to provide support and assistance to team members and positively contribute to the team culture 
•    Experience in the use of side and rear loader waste collection vehicles highly desirable 
•    Good verbal communication skills and ability to resolve minor customer issues where required 
•    Provides support to more experienced or skilled workers by following instructions, preparing materials, or helping with tasks that require basic proficiency.
•    Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the occupational health and safety requirements in the waste collection industry
•    Ability to safely perform a range of physical tasks and duties as directed, in a safe and efficient manner
•    Current Victorian Heavy Rigid Licence (or greater)
•    Must possess a current [Working with Children Check/Valid Police Check] or be willing to obtain both prior to commencing employment
