This role is an integral part of contributing to a safe community and positive environmental impacts within the City of Stonnington. The Stream Cleaning Driver Labourer is responsible for providing a high quality street cleaning service to maintain the cleanliness of the streets and precinct areas. You are required to follow the daily schedule and ensure that all the day’s work is completed within the service level agreements and ensure the effective and efficient operation of steam cleaning equipments and vehicles including the use of high pressure steam hose.
You are also required to:
Carry out the effective and efficient cleaning of streets, roads, street furniture, footpath and laneways using high pressure hose and other equipments to remove dirt and grease from the surface.
Communicate with team members and Supervisor/Team Leader and report any incomplete work.
Ensure appropriate safety and protective equipment is worn, including sunscreen, and ensure all works are performed in a manner that does not place yourself or others at risk
Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting, digging, raking, sweeping and using mechanical tools.

Accountable for the quality and timeliness of work performed on streets, laneways and drains within the municipality.
Ensure the vehicle in use is maintained in good condition and any defects are reported to the Workshop and are entered into the vehicle log book.
Clean and maintain the vehicle/equipment and follow all plant maintenance and reporting procedures
Responsible for the security and correct operation and use of assets, equipment and materials within the employee’s control .
Report any incidents and accidents to Supervisor /Team Leader in a timely manner.
Participate in induction and training programs as required
Maintain good relations with the public, other Council departments, tradesmen and service authorities and promote a positive image as part of the Waste Management Services.
This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary of $79,651 per annum + 12% superannuation. The hours of this role are 6am - 2.30pm, have your afternoons free to do as you choose. Perfect hours too if you have school pick ups!
Desired Skills and Experience
To be suitable for this position you will be a positive team player who is able to maintain the cleanliness of the City of Stonnington community and is responsible for operating the plant in a manner that will provide a high-quality street cleaning service to the City of Stonnington
You will have:
Current driver's licence with a Victorian MR (or greater) truck licence endorsement.
Previous experience in a street cleaning role is desirable
Perform basic maintenance duties as directed by the Team Leader
Responsible for the quality of own work
Work performed falls within specific guidelines with established practices and procedures, under routine supervision.
Work activities are routine and clearly defined
Task to be performed may involve the use of a limited range of tools, techniques and methods within a specified range of work
Resolution of minor problems that relate to the immediate work task.
Safe and competent operation of light mechanical plant in line with well-established procedures, manuals and guidelines
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and practices.
Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision
Basic verbal and written communication skills
