Job Description

This role leads the planning and delivery of activity centre improvements, from minor renewal works to revitalisation of centres. 
The primary focus of the position is to provide exceptional project management to plan, consult, design, obtain regulatory approvals and deliver positive public realm improvements to Stonnington’s shopping precincts and public realm.

This position is responsible for working collaboratively with employees at all levels across Council and liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders, including government departments, community and traders, professional bodies and consultants.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Plan and deliver a works program to ensure our city’s activity centres contribute positively to the public realm
•    Contribute to key public realm projects to ensure vibrant and quality spaces are delivered which align with community feedback and improves pedestrian circulation, biodiversity, water sensitive cities and opportunities to rest and enjoy the urban fabric of an inner-city municipality
•    Ensure consistent character in activity centres and urban realm by responding to and reinforcing locally distinctive patterns of the built environment and landscape
•    Enhance wayfinding, ensure legibility of signage and route to help people navigate the city
•    Influence the Urban Design of Council’s Capital Works Program and enhance outcomes of private realm Urban Design development.
•    Facilitate close and innovative consultation and partnerships with communities, in the planning and implementation of urban design plans for activity precincts and key urban realm projects.  
•    Coordinate communication packages that fully illustrate design intent, using methods of communication that can be used for successful relationships and experiences. 
•    Clear and plain language communication to ensure the community and councillors are engaged and informed. 
•    Maintain forward works plans and design programs in consultation with relevant internal departments and stakeholders. Implement systems and procedures required to achieve project outcomes efficiently and effectively.  
•    Coordinate early site investigations to understand site constraints and conditions to inform program, from minor renewal works to more strategic urban realm revitalisation programs
•    Project Manage scoping through to design approval, construction and handover. Ensure projects are managed from end to end and in accordance with the relevant standards.
•    Support the development of Council’s capital budget through portfolio insights, project data analysis, and strategic recommendations. 


Join us in this full-time permanent role, offering a competitive salary range of $102,368 - $110,865, plus 12% superannuation. 

Desired Skills and Experience

What you’ll need to succeed:

•    Demonstrated substantial senior project management experience in public realm infrastructure renewal, specifically activity centres, with a record of successful achievement.
•    Proven ability to develop clear program of works, engage consultants and stakeholders to deliver public realm infrastructure
•    Extensive knowledge and demonstrated ability to apply landscape architecture and project management principles and practices
•    Detailed knowledge of the relevant Acts, Regulations, Local Laws, Government and Council Policies relating to the environment and public spaces
•    Sound knowledge and application of Urban Design /Landscape Architecture theory and best industry practice
•    Strong skills and experience in graphic representation to communicate various concept, detailed and masterplan designs
•    Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise work at an individual and team level, within set timelines and in an environment of change and conflicting demands
•    Demonstrated experience in project delivery, contract management and administration
•    Ability to gain cooperation and assistance from clients, members of the public and other employees
•    Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to effectively discuss and present ideas and decisions
•    Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, GIS and other relevant tools and software 
•    Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, collaboration, and resolution of issues to achieve project objectives.
•    Skilled in building cooperation and gaining support from clients, the public, and other Employees relevant to the role to efficiently manage activities and supervise team members.
