Job Description

The Spatial Systems Specialist provides high-level expertise in supporting Stonnington staff with the delivery of sound GIS solution for the organisation. This role involves the implementation, maintenance, support and ongoing development of council spatial information and systems. 
With a project management focus Spatial Systems Specialist is required to engage with internal and external stakeholder ensuring GS standards and sustainable outcomes are delivered.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Capability to lead and delivery GIS projects including; upgrades of specific applications, delivery of new functionality and process improvements
•    Coordinate and document the design & build, as well as testing of GIS projects relating to data cleansing and integration between the following systems: Intramaps, OneCouncil, AssetMaster and the Planning systems 
•    Work with contractors and consultants to achieve project outcomes and objectives.  
•    Work in partnership with personnel across the organisation providing technical support and specialist advice on Council’s GIS, applying creative spatial solutions for complex issues when necessary.
•    Provide specialist expert guidance for departments when working with Contractors on Council projects where spatial data is required or spatial data is delivered as an outcome. 
•    Respond to GIS requests from internal staff including data reporting and analysis.
•    Administration corporate GIS systems. 
•    Apply Specialised Knowledge in Data Management 
•    Maintain GIS datasets to ensure accuracy, integrity, and reliability. 
•    Well-developed skills to undertake analysis, generate and report on information and provide recommendations in an engaging manner.

Join us in this full-time permanent role, offering a competitive salary range of $113,974 - $126,589 plus 12% superannuation and a monthly accrued day off.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you’ll need to succeed:

•    Tertiary qualification in GIS, Spatial Information, Geomatics, Data Science, Computer Science or related field, together with relevant experience in a GIS environment;
•    Mandatory experience in SQL Server Management Studio, FME and QGIS
•    Sound understanding of the Vicmap Property and Address maintenance process with the ability to process VicMap data updates and submission of notifications (VES) of new, amended and incorrect properties.
•    Proven experience of SQL Server databases including spatial analysis, data querying and extraction and automation of operational tasks
•    Strong technical knowledge of the managed products, and extensive experience in providing support to the core applications of Council, including Intramaps, Mapinfo, QGIS, Feature Manipulation Engine (FME), OneCouncil CiA
•    Highly developed skills in Desktop GIS products, in particular QGIS and MapInfo. 
•    Highly developed people skills with a demonstrated ability to perform well in a collaborative environment and positively contribute to the team.
•    Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
•    Ability to gain cooperation and assistance from clients, the public, and colleagues, effectively motivating and developing team members in the administration of broadly defined activities.
•    Proficiency in facilitating positive and effective professional relationships with a diverse range of clients, internal and external stakeholders.
