Job Description

As Street Cleaning Driver Labourer you will maintain the cleanliness of public roads, streets, laneways and carparks by carrying out all street cleaning duties scheduled, and ensure that each shift is completed as directed without risk to yourself and others. You will operate street cleaning vehicle as required in a safe, competent and responsible manner in accordance with Road Traffic Regulations. You are also required to clean and ensure the vehicle in use is maintained in good condition and any defects are reported to Fleet Management and entered into the vehicle maintenance register.

You will also:
•    Work with the Team Leader and report any incomplete work.
•    Report any incidents/accidents to the Team Leader.
•    Maintain good relationships with residents, traders, the general public and other Council departments, and represent Council by promiting a good image as a unit.
•    Have a “can do” attitude and willingly carry out other duties as directed 

This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary of $68,058.28 per annum + 11% superannuation. You will be provided with regular training, access to a wellbeing program, employee assistance program and other benefits provided to permanent employees.

Desired Skills and Experience

To be suitable for this position you will have:

  • A current and valid medium rigid drivers licence.
  • Knowledge and ability to follow safe Manual Handling Techniques and Occupational Health and Safety standards.
  • Skills to enable effective communication with management, staff and customers with regards to information needs
  • Proven ability to work safely with an outdoor works environment
  • Physical ability to perform the work.
  • Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
  • The ability and willingness to work in a team environment and positively contribute to the team.
