Job Description

We are seeking a new graduate to join us as a casual Maternal and Child Health Nurse. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your community by applying your knowledge of child development, alongside your compassion and interpersonal skills, to build supportive relationships with families in the area.

In this role, you will provide a family-centred Maternal and Child Health Service, aimed at maximising the health potential of children aged 0-6 and their families within the municipality. As a universal MCH Nurse, you will conduct both centre consultations and home visits to monitor and promote the health, growth, and development of young children. This includes supporting their physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development by offering guidance, support, and information. You will also provide early intervention by identifying children, parents, and families experiencing vulnerability, empowering them to take action, and facilitating early engagement with services.

The position offers an hourly rate of $72 (including casual loading), along with a qualification allowance and superannuation.

Desired Skills and Experience

To succeed in this position, you will need excellent communication skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of families, groups, and service providers. Strong time management, assessment, and referral skills are also essential, as is an understanding of legislation related to Mandatory Reporting of child abuse.

To be considered, you will need:

  • A current driver’s licence
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a registered nurse and registered midwife
  • A recognised qualification in Child, Family, and Community Nursing
  • An Employee Working with Children’s Check
